What a day. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along to our Picnic in the Park on Sunday 16th August and helped make it such a fantastic afternoon. Seeing the park so full of people enjoying themselves was brilliant!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the event possible:
– Our staff and volunteers, who worked incredibly hard before, during and after the event to make sure everything ran smoothly and that the park was kept clean and litter-free.
– The entertainment companies and groups; Bouncy Days, Funfairhires Ltd, Mr Twister and Shona’s Fabulous Faces and Groby Juniors Football Club, who kept everyone — especially the little ones — busy, smiling and having fun!
– Our wonderful performers; Mood Swing, EPA Studios, Candyfloss Entertainment, Enderby and the Groby Tuesday’s, who brought music, dancing and entertainment to the afternoon.
– Our incredible food vendors and amazing stallholders, who brought such a fantastic variety of delicious food and drink, local businesses, community groups, crafts, treats and activities to the event.
Finally, thank you to everyone who came along. Whether you stayed for the whole afternoon, popped in for an hour, enjoyed the performances, tackled the inflatables, browsed the stalls, grabbed something delicious to eat or simply sat in the park with your family and friends — you helped make the event what it was.
We’re also delighted to share that the event raised an incredible £705 for The Little Beam Foundation! This total was raised through pitch fees and generous donations from the amazing stallholders and food vendors who joined us on the day.
The Little Beam Foundation does brilliant work supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing through art, sport, music and play, so we’re thrilled that our event was able to contribute to their work.
Thank you all for making our first Picnic in the Park such a special one.

We hope to see you all at Picnic in the Park on Sunday 16th August, 12noon-4pm on Stamford Park, Groby for an afternoon of community spirit, fun and great food!
Entry is free as are most of the activities such as the inflatable obstacle course, face painting, trampolines and Mr Twister.
There will be live performances throughout the afternoon from local musicians, dance and entertainment groups. Look forwards to performances from:

The youngest stallholders this year are from our local primary schools and at age 11 have started The Snack Shack to provide you with snacks to enjoy throughout the afternoon.
Whether you’re looking for jewellery, bath and body products, toys, books, fidgets, homemade crafts, pet-related items, food items or even your pie for your evening meal, our stallholders have got you covered!

🚗A note on parking:
With lots of people expected to join us on Sunday, we anticipate that the car parks closest to the park are likely to fill up quickly.
If you’re able to, we’d really encourage you to walk, cycle or car-share to help with parking and keep traffic moving.
If you do need to drive, please allow a little extra time to find a space and park considerately, safely and legally, making sure not to block driveways, roads or access for residents and emergency vehicles.
We want everyone to have a brilliant afternoon, including the people who live around the park, so please help us keep the area accessible and respectful for our local community.

Summer Holiday Activities in Hinckley & Bosworth

Also attached is an electronic brochure, made by Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, packed full of summer activities and events for young people and families in Hinckley and Bosworth can be found below. Included is also lots of advice for families, accessing support and lots more.
Councillor Robin Webber-Jones, Children and Young People’s Champion at the Borough Council said: “As in previous years, many families will be choosing to enjoy a ‘staycation’ closer to home this summer. With the cost of living continuing to affect household budgets, we appreciate that keeping children entertained throughout the school holidays can be expensive. That’s why I am delighted to announce that we have once again compiled this essential summer activity and event guide. This resource is packed with details of a wide range of activities and events for babies, children, young people and their families across Hinckley and Bosworth, along with helpful information and advice. We encourage residents to look through the guide and book activities early where possible, as some events and sessions have limited spaces and are likely to fill up quickly. We hope this guide helps families make the most of the summer holidays, whatever their budget.”

Job Opening – Grounds Operative
Groby Parish Council is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic person to carry out grounds and property maintenance on land under the control of the Council as part of a small, close working team.
The applicant should be able to work with the minimum of supervision; display initiative and have a pro-active approach to carrying out the general grounds maintenance and gardening duties to a high standard within the Parish of Groby. You will also be expected to ensure that health and safety compliance is adhered to at all times.
The applicant must have good interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and have a willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
You will need to have a full driving licence and relevant grounds maintenance experience which should include experience in operating equipment such as pedestrian mowers, ride-on mowers, trimmers and hand tools. Full duties are listed in the Job Description.
Closing date for applications: Thursday 9th July 2026 at 5pm.

From Monday 22nd June to Friday 26th June the pathways in Marina Park and selected sections of Stamford Park will be reinstated to improve safety and accessibility.
